Staff Accountant

The primary responsibility of the Staff Accountant is the regular processing of error-free tax filings, preparation and review of amended payroll tax returns as needed, and to resolve jurisdiction correspondences.  This is a dynamic software development environment with an emphasis on superior customer service and innovation. This role is ideal for a candidate with at least three years of experience in a tax department and/or banking role that is looking for a hands-on role.

  • Daily payroll processing including reconciliation/review of client wages and taxes
  • Daily banking functions and reconciliations
  • Preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings
  • Preparation, review and filing of amended tax returns
  • Balancing of check history and tax filings for new clients during implementation phase
  • Resolve client questions expediently with a high level of service
  • Client communications and follow up regarding tax filings and tax jurisdiction correspondences
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax regulations/issues for federal, state and local taxing authorities.
  • Weekly progress and status reporting of assignments to Supervisor
  • Identification/documentation of trends and recommend solutions for process improvement
  • Actively participate as a member of the tax team and facilitate department cross training
  • Assist associates with explaining complex tax questions/issues to clients
  • Other duties as assigned

Required experience:

Payroll processing : 2-5 years

FPC or CPP Preferred

Required education: Bachelor's Degree

Salary Range: $40,000-60,000
